Sandy’s beach is responsible for more injuries than any other beach in Hawaii and has earned the nickname “break-neck beach” The main reason is due to the strong currents and heavy shore breaking waves. If you are not an experienced swimmer then please be cautious and heed the lifeguard warning signs. Even if you don’t get in the water, Sandy’s is a great place to watch and take photos of body surfers and body boarders. There you will also find picnic tables, restrooms, lifeguards, and an occasional food truck. A great beach for relaxing and sight seeing. It breaks most days out of the year so be cautious if swimming.
WHAT TO RENT: Hawaii Beach Time recommends chairs, cooler, and an umbrella to relax and enjoy the sights. If the surf is small (which can be rare) or you are an experienced bodyboarder, but didn’t bring your boog we can definitely deliver boogieboards.
