Oahu North Shore Summary: Oahu’s North Shore is one of the greatest, and no doubt most famous stretches of beach in the world. Its popularity can largely be attributed to surfing, and the many waves created by shallow reefs just off shore. Wintertime swells from Alaska and Japan make there way to the North Shore without obstructions to mellow them out, making the waves that crash here very large and powerful. Banzai Pipeline, Waimea Bay, and Rocky Point are but a few of the world famous surf spots that proffesional surfers from around the globe flock to during the winter months.

Summertime is a different story, the coastline of the North Shore can be as flat as a lake, providing great places for visitors and locals alike to enjoy snorkeling, begginer surfing, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding(SUPing) and good ol’ beach relaxation time. There are a number of great beaches worth checking out and Hawaii Beach Time rents and delivers all of the gear you may want or need to have an amazing North Shore experience.

Some notable North Shore beaches worth visiting:

Rocky Point - Great pro surfer watching

Banzai Pipeline – Great pro surfer watching

Waimea Bay – Cliff jumping, boogie boarding, snorkeling kayaking, SUPing

Sharks Cove – Oahu’s best summertime snorkeling spot

Three Tables – Incredible snorkeling, nice beach

Keikis Beach – Fun shore break, nice beach, never crowded

Kawela Bay – The most secluded hidden beach on the island. If you can find it, its amazing.

Haleiwa Beach Park – Great stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, and relaxing, convenient location.

Lanikea Beach aka Turtle Beach – The one place on the island you can count on seeing turtles. Many of them hang out on the beach so you don't have to get in the water if you don't want to.

Things To Do On The North Shore: The North Shore is the most versatile area of the island, due to seasons and terrain. There is a beach for everything, and even if you tried there is no way you could pack in all of the fun things there are to do on the north shore in one trip.

Hawaii Beach Time has everything you need to relax including chair rentals, cooler rentals(they come filled with ice,) umbrella and canopy tent rentals, snorkel rentals, kayak rentals, and just about anything else you may want. North Shore Kayaking:The kayaking on the North Shore is great year round, although the locations adjust based on season. HBT rents kayaks at Haleiwa Beach Park frequently, where kayakers can paddle under the iconic Haleiwa bridge and up the calm river, or head out to some of the nearby beaches to relax and take in the scenery. HBT also rents kayaks at a number of other North Shore beaches depending on time of year, but here are some ideas to get your wheels spinning:

Waimea Bay Kayaking – Summertime
Sunset Beach Kayaking – Summertime
Kawela Bay Kayaking – Year round
Malekahana / Goat Island Kayaking – Year round
Three Tables Kayaking – Summertime

North Shore Snorkeling: The snorkeling on the North Shore is amazing in the spring and summertime, as well as the early fall. Sharks Cove, Waimea Bay, Three Tables, and Lanikea(Turtle Beach) are fantastic spots to witness some of Oahu’s greatest marine life. Snorkeling is one of the best things to do on the North Shore so don’t miss out, Hanauma Bay is the only other spot on the island where you can see such a wide variety of fish in such close proximity. The Pupukea Marine Sanctuary is home to many of Hawaii’s most notable sea creatures, and often in large numbers. If snorkeling is something you realy want to do on your trip, make sure to include snorkel rental sets in your HBT north shore beach package for an amazing marine experience.

North Shore Beginner Surf Spots:The North Shore is home to a few beginner surf breaks in the summer, and only one in the winter. Chuns Reef, Haleiwa Beach Park, and Malekahana are the best in the summertime and offer great little waves to learn or hone your skills without much consequence. Malekahana aka castles is the only spot we recommend for beginners in the wintertime. North Shore waves can be very dangerous in the winter and this is the only place that remains calm and fun for all skill levels. The beach is beautiful too. HBT rents beginner surfboards all over the North Shore year round, let us know if you need one delivered right to your door, or at your beach of choice.

North Shore Stand Up Paddle Boarding:The North Shore is home to some amazing SUP spots. HBT rents stand up paddle boards at Haleiwa beach park frequently and a nice paddle up the river is always fun year round. The protected harbor generally stays very calm in the wintertime so it's a lot of fun to SUP around and check out some of the incoming/outgoing boats. Waimea Bay, is also a fantastic North Shore SUP location, during the summertime our customers have had many great experiences paddling around some of the small black rock formations jolting out of the clear green water. The bay is extremely scenic, and a short paddle around the point eastward can lead you to three tables beach or sharks cove. Don't miss out on this fun new sport, especially in a tropical paradise. HBT is the North Shore’s largest stand up paddle board rental operation and can deliver your board to any beach you may want it at. Renting a vacation home on the north shore? Then rent a board for a week and take it out at your leisure, we can deliver right to your front door 7 days a week 8am-8pm.
